Family time

I have listened to my friend Kazuya about how he has been spent time
with his family. His story showed me how important but hard it is spending
time with his family.
Kazuya is a man around fifty who teaches students in a university.
He lives with his wife and three teenage kids.
He showed me two pictures which took of them.
The first was taken 7 years ago. Another was taken recently.
Kazuya has had a workaholic life.
He goes to work from early in the morning till late at night both
on weekdays and weekends.
He totally depends on his wife when it comes to house chores and childcare.
He spends only a few days a year with his family for their vacation.
Kazuya recently found a picture of his kids when they were very young which
he has never seen before.
It seemed like his wife took the picture of the kids in a theme park.
He called his kids and asked them to pose the same way as they were
in the old picture. Then he took a picture of his kids- the second picture.
Compared it to the last picture, Kazuya was moved with how much they
have grown up.
His eldest son’s foot is 27cm.
His youngest son can run faster than Kazuya.
Kazuya was not at the park with the kids when the first picture was taken.
He realized that his kids have grown while he did know about that.
So, Kazuya regretted that he missed precious event with his kids.
He should’ve been there for his kids. He was supposed to spend with them.
Then he can’t turn back the time with his kids.
When his kids were very young, Kazuya used to play with them.
Now, his kids come to him only when they need money.
He feels sad that he is only their ATM machine.
It seemed like they do not need him anymore.
When the eldest son took an exam in a private middle school,
his entire family supported him.
Kazuya became his mathematics coach.
His wife became his Japanese coach and his daughter became
his English coach.
When his eldest son succeeded, everyone became excited and happy.
Kazuya realized that the whole family supported his development.
When his daughter took an entrance exam for a high school, he and
his wife had an interview with their daughter.
His wife appealed their daughter’s strength and excellence very well
but he was sad that he wasn’t able to say something good about her.
Kazuya is going to totally support his kids till they’re grown up.
But he is getting more responsible and busier for his work.
That makes him hard to spend time with his family.
Although he looks forward to his kids’ development, he is sure to work
hard for the cost of his family’s life and that of his kids’ education
from now on.
His wife Aya is always with their kids.
She understands and supports them to get independent from the parents.
She sometimes updates him about what’s going on with their kids.
It seems like that she also updates their kids about their dad.
Although it seldom happens, she lets him know when he is required to do
something for his kids.
He doesn’t think it enough but he’s going to live with his kids in this way
and to look forward to his kids’ development and future.
